Tuesday Group Speakers

Tuesday Group is a weekly gathering over the noon hour at the Grand Ely Lodge in Ely. We provide people an opportunity to learn something new, and strive to feature speakers and topics related to northeastern Minnesota.  Tuesday Group is sponsored by Boundary Waters Connect.

Speakers are asked to provide a presentation title and description, a brief bio, and a picture of themselves (or an otherwise relevant picture) to help us market the program. If possible, this information is due two weeks prior to the program.
 

We encourage (but do not require) speakers to prepare a visual presentation to be broadcast via screen share for virtual audiences, and via a projector for in-person attendees. Where applicable,  we ask that presentations be prepared as Google Slides or PowerPoint, and emailed to us by 11:00am on the morning of the presentation. Please let us know if your presentation includes video with audio.

We stream to a live virtual audience, and we record presentations to be posted online. We do this as a default. Please let Lacey know if you do not consent to having your presentation streamed live and/or recorded. 
 

We set up and manage the technology for the speakers. It is best for the Tuesday Group host to set up using our computers, as opposed to using a guest speaker’s computer, due to the number of components involved. If you would like to connect using your own computer, please let us know so we can discuss how it will work. 
 

We ask speakers to arrive at the conference room in the Grand Ely Lodge by 11:30am. Attendees begin arriving around 11:30am, and this can be a good opportunity for speakers to engage with the community. The program starts at noon with community announcements, which can take several minutes. Following announcements, the Tuesday Group host briefly introduces the featured speaker(s).  Speakers have until 1:00pm to present, including time for questions.
 

Speakers are invited to enjoy lunch courtesy of the Grand Ely Lodge. You’ll be occupied with your presentation during the noon hour, so you can arrive early to order and eat lunch, or you can order food to go after the program has ended.
